Jackie Kennedy has been elevated to an almost legendary status in the world of politics. In Diane Sawyer's new television special, 'Jacqueline Kennedy: In Her Own Words,' the former First Lady "speaks" candidly in a way people have never heard before. But Stephen Colbert was surprised by this on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central).
"Were women allowed to have their own words back then?" he asked. "I thought their husbands could have them committed if they used their own words."
He went on to list some of the less-than-flattering descriptions Kennedy used in describing various foreign dignitaries and other famous people she met through her life.
