Some ten plus episodes or so into the Impel Down infiltration arc and I'm starting to wish that things would move along a little faster. And then I remember that we had a four episode or so break to deal with a side plot to a movie where said plot had practically no recognizable impact on, which makes this arc feel even longer. The push deeper down into Impel Down continues here and the bulk of it is made up of the four main guys running around like crazy trying to figure out how to either get down further or get up higher to escape. With a brief pair of bookend scenes really involving either Ace or Hancock which gives them a few lines at best, the majority here is all about the running. The foot clomping sound effects guys are earning their bucks again this week.
The split in the group is still fairly expected as Buggy and Mr. 3 are doing their best to climb out of level three so they can escape while Luffy and Bon Clay try to make their way down to level four so he can find Ace and Bon Clay can find his mysterious man of interest. Well, that mystery is resolved but honestly I wish it hadn't been because some things simply can't be unlearned and Bon Clay provides a lot of that. The material involving Buggy and Mr. 3 is fairly amusing as they try to escape upwards only to encounter something big and nasty in the form of a Minotaurus, which actually looks kind of cute in a cow-like sense in a few scenes. The big bad is doing its best to fulfill its goal of doling out punishment to those that escape by these two guys know how to keep on the run and away from the big bads. And they have a subconscious ability to find their way back to Luffy which brings said big bad into contact with them as well.
