'The Walking Dead' special effects guru Greg Nicotero inks AMC deal


Things are pretty lively behind the scenes at AMC's "The Walking Dead." The latest development: On Thursday (Sept. 15), special effects make-up guru Greg Nicotero was named a co-executive producer and snagged himself a first-look development deal with the network.This is good news for fans of the zombie hit. Nicotero's creative stamp is all over the look-and-feel of the show and he's a stabilizing force in the absence of creator Frank Darabont, who parted ways with the show in late July just days after hyping the second season at Comic-Con.According to an AMC press release, Nicotero has also directed several webisodes for the show and will helm an episode himself."I have always felt like the show had a cinematic feel and everyone involved is dedicated to making this show something special," says Nicotero in the press release.
