RAISING HOPE “Kidnapped” Review

Raising Hope “Kidnapped”, Season 2 Episode 3 – Raising Hope returned this week with another pretty solid episode, although it still didn’t live up to some of the better episodes from the first season.

“Kidnapped” is another flashback episode that fills us in on an incident that happened to the Chancefamily in 1992. When Burt and Virginia find a hippie at a gas station, Burt pretends to be kidnapped (Hence the title) by running off with the drifter, while Virginia is comforted by Officer Ross, a diminutive policeman who has always had a thing for her.

This story resolved itself just as I thought it would. Now I’m not saying that I knew exactly how it would resolve itself, but I knew that the basic facets of the Raising Hope episode would be there. The conflict would be introduced, we would find out that the conflict was not what we thought, and then the Chance family would grow even closer together because of it. This show was so great in the firstseason because it was heartwarming, but not too sappy. This episode crossed the line into sappiness a bit too much for me.
