‘The X-Factor,’ Season 1, Episode 19: TV Recap

On Wednesday, "X-Factor" paid tribute to Michael Jackson, which ranks among the best ideas the show’s producers ever had. (It’s such a good decision it almost balances out choosing Steve Jones as the host.) As the judges discussed the stakes of the evening’s performances, Paula Abdul observed that she’s now the only fully impartial judge, since all of her acts were voted off the show. Nicole Scherzinger, meanwhile, said that despite losing two acts, she "doesn’t plan on losing any more," which is certainly a sweet sentiment, but it’s a little unrealistic since there will eventually be only one winner.

After Jones introduced the remaining Jacksons, Scherzinger introduced Josh Krajcik, who performed "Dirty Diana." L.A. Reid said, "that’s the first time I’ve seen you step out of your comfort zone, and I’m really proud to see you do it." Abdul said, "you learned how to be comfortable in the uncomfortable – you continue to raise the bar."
