Terra Nova Review: No Hope Plaza

The largest issue I have with the Terra Nova season finale is that there were many nice moments in  "Occupation/Resistance"  that could have been great if they weren't part of a show that - in general - is just not good.

For example, the early scene at the bar was nice.  Lucas making a big deal about his pseudo brother/sister relationship with Skye was funny, and then after he tried to go a bit too far with his fake sister, Josh coming to the rescue was admirable.  Lucas again proved to be a viable villain as he took a number of free shots on the teenager, before Big Jim Shannon came storming into the bar to save the day. "Josh coming to the rescue was admirable" Admirable. Really? I spent about half an hour after that wanting to chew that stupid, self-centered, emo asshat's face off. Of all the stupid shit that kid has pulled, this takes the cake. Oh, how gallant! He stepped in to rescue the girl from a little creepy fondling of her hand, in a crowded bar. Yeah, because she was seconds away from being thrown down on the floor and gang-banged. And what exactly was he hoping to accomplish by punching out Mr. Crazy Creepy Guy in a bar full of his mercenaries, in a settlement RUN by him? Because what he DID accomplish was pretty impressive. Let's see... he managed with that one move to blow his dad's cover and get them both caught, he managed to force the girl he was so gallantly rescuing to go to Mr. Crazy Creepy Guy and plead/bargain/offer god knows what to save his stupid life, he managed to force his mom to risk herself and his sisters in order to save his dad, he forced Lt. Washington to sacrifice herself in a desperate move to get his family out, and he managed to cost Taylor his source of inside intel and to severely undermine the whole resistance movement. Yeah, that was... so admirable. I swooned. I want to marry him now, and have his babies. I'm sure Skye does too. Seriously, I could happily take a crowbar to that kid's face. But then, you are right about one thing, and that's that this is kind of a bad show. It's pretty obvious that Josh isn't a character so much as a plot device (a poor one), so on second thought, meh. Meh to the whole thing.
