What Really Happened To The ‘Alcatraz’ Prisoners? And What’s With The Box? - Review

Fans of J.J. Abrams are most likely looking forward to tonight’s premiere of the new series that heexecutive produced, Alcatraz. The show has a very interesting premise, especially for anyone who’s ever been interested in the notorious prison.

Similar to Lost or FringeAlcatraz‘ revolves around a mystery, but this time it’s about the disappearanceof 302 of Alcatraz’s prisoners and guards and their reappearance 50 years after they vanished. While this premise might remind you of The 4400Alcatraz differentiates itself with the fact that the prisonersand guards don’t all reappear at once, but instead one at time. To make matters worse, they all seem to have new assignments to carry out.

After watching the first two episodes, it seems that each episode will focus on a new inmate reappearing, but also will delve into the mystery that is Alcatraz and what really happened in 1963. As part of the investigation we meet San Francisco Police Department Det. Rebecca Madson (Sarah Jones, "Sons of Anarchy"), who along with Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast Dr. Diego "Doc" Soto (Jorge Garcia, "Lost"), is brought on board by government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) and his associate, Lucy Banerjee (Parminder Nagra, "ER"), who have secrets of their own.
