'The Office' plots a spinoff: Would you follow Dwight to the farm?


For the second time in the show's history, the powers that be at "The Office" are considering a spinoff. The out-of-nowhere news about a new spinoff broke late Wednesday, with Deadline reporting that NBC, showrunner Paul Lieberstein and star Rainn Wilson talking about a new show that would focus on Dwight Schrute. The idea has Dwight leaving Dunder Mifflin and devoting himself to Schrute Farm and the bed & breakfast he runs on the property.The spinoff would be more of a family show, with multiple generations of previously mentioned but never-seen Schrutes populating the show. The idea sounds a little like "Newhart," but with Larry, Darryl and Darryl related to the main character.NBC previously considered a spinoff of "The Office" in the 2007-08 season, but executive producers Greg Daniels and Mike Schur eventually developed "Parks and Recreation" instead.
