The Game of Thrones season 2 premiere is nearly upon us and HBO has released official sneak peeks for the premiere episode.
Daenerys may have been present for the birth of her dragons at the end of last season, but they're not necessarily the quick fix she or her people need. While they continue to make them way to Westeros, Daenerys comes to realize that she's not exactly skilled in caring for dragons, not even knowing the basics like what types of meat they eat. Despite her deceased brother pretending to be knowledgeable on the subject of dragons, Daenerys soon realizes that he "didn't know anything about anything." And it's going to be a while until her dragons are grown enough to help her reclaim her throne. For more on what's in store for Danny in season 2, check out this character featurette.
Meanwhile, back in King's Landing, Joffrey will soon come to realize that being king isn't all it's cracked up to be. Not only are both Stannis and Renly gunning for his position, but even his own family is wary of him. His mother is deeply concerned about the "monster" that she has created, as Lena Heady explained in this preview for season 2. But his uncle, Tyrion, is also not afraid to call him out for his cowardice. Returning to the celebration, Tyrion doesn't miss the opportunity to make fun of Joffrey for not appearing on the battlefield, while also taking the time to praise Joffrey's siblings.
