Game of Thrones “The Night Lands” Review

Alan Taylor is a damned good director. He directed episodes 9 and 10 of the inaugural season of Game of Thrones, and directed the first episode of this, the second season. Each one was a smooth-flowing chunk of awesomeness in its own right, and arguably the best episodes in the series thus far.

"The Night Lands" is, in my opinion, the worst of his four, but this isn’t meant to be a criticism of Taylor. Well, not really; this episode would still rank in the top half of the ‘Thrones pantheon, and the show itself is easily one of the top five shows on television today. (It’s certainly my favorite show.)

But there were still minor problems, and minor (or missed) details that I wish had been handled differently. I could possibly blame the editing (Frances Parker), but again… It’s a little like complaining the baked potato was a little dry in your 5-star restaurant steak-and-lobster dinner.
