The Big C “Thin Ice” Review

Hey! It’s Paul! He’s alive! Even though they left it as a bit of cliffhanger, I know many people who assumed (or hoped) that Paul would die. It certainly would have provided a change in a series that is definitely in need of a bit of a shot in the arm. I don’t dislike Oliver Platt in the role, I just think his death could have led the series to a good place creatively.

Unfortunately, Paul is alive and kicking. The heart attack that put him on his backside has led to a role reversal within the household. Whereas Paul was doing his best to care for Cathy, now Cathy has taken over the caretaker duties for Paul. I can’t say I have a ton of interest in watching the domestic side of this series. I find it far more appealing when Cathy is talking about treatment options or doing wacky things like pretending she is an attractive widow named Alexis Bertrand at a bar nearby her hospital.
