The Voice “Live Performances, Week 2? Review

This week on The Voice, Team Adam and Team Cee Lo got their opportunity to showcase their talents live.

Let’s take a closer look at this week’s offerings . . .

Team Adam

Katrina: This was easily the weirdest performance of the night and it had nothing to do with Katrina’s singing. Clearly, she’s a talented performer. The strange turn of events began with Adam pushing Katrina to figure out who she was beyond a great Adele impersonator. Fair enough. In response to this challenge, Katrina’s live performance of the Smashing Pumpkin’s "Tonight, Tonight" looked and sounded more like Adele than ever. Weird! If channeling Adele too much is the worst criticism you receive, you’re clearly not doing that bad. Cee Lo also referred to her performance as "showtune-ish," which is never a compliment. I thought the performance was fine but it would have been nice for Adam to at least acknowledge the contradiction in his advice and the live performance. My impression is that the judges have a lot of input in not only the song selection but the look and styling of the final performance. Did Adam approve this performance? I must know! Read More...
