Anyone notice the same pattern over and over again?

i'm catching myself enjoying more 'family guy' and 'american dad' due to the complete randomness of them.

There are a few plots you will meet :

a. partners at work/best friends with hints of sexual tention but nothing happens cause 'it's not right' untill it eventually happens, and then the story continues, if it does, with them fighting over bulls***, reasons that are extremly minor and in real life you would've ignored them.

example: friends, Will and Grace, Bones, friends and so on..

b. women/men too confused and unstable for a relationship and self-causing drama and complications, the man is the hero for withstanding all things wrong with the woman, regardless that in reality she would've been in a mental institution, the woman is sleeping with 2 or more different men every day and that's "empowering" for the woman, however no STDs are ever contracted, rarely the reputation is smothered etc, and the story goes on for many seasons.

example : grey's anatomy, sex and the city, secret diary of a call girl and so on (if you youtube tyra banks porn star subjected show, even that they get tested once a month, they always get STDs and they admit it)

c. the flow of medical/cop/crime/detective series :

1. getting a case

2. catching a suspect/guessing the desease (for the medical ones)

3. being completely wrong and worsen the conditions (on cop the suspect might die, patient starts knocking on heavens door)

4. new evidence

5. the butler did it

6. everything is solved.

examples : most cop series, House MD and so on...

d. the stuck up life of wealthy people who do drastic things for simple things, like leaving the country for kissing the wrong guy/girl

example : sex and the city, gossip girl, and so on..

What I would like to see :

A series where a close relationship between men is not accused of being gay. Same for the women.

Women that don't act retarded and use some logic, but not like 'Bones' she's retarded but educated. Just like normal women you meet on the street.

Men reacting like normal men and not like they are going through menopause.

Actual and healthy relationship between men and women without any competition. Unlike Will and Grace were Grace wanted to go back to her husband but the senario was, she whouldn't cause Will said so...

Women not being the stereotypical "i say another, mean another and want another"

To sum up...

A tad more of reality and realistic reactions.

What fun is that? There's enough "reailty" bullshit on the air as it is... though, and i may be wrong about this, as I haven't watched reality tv since the early Real World years, it seems that the "reality" shows show all of those things on your no no list.
I guess my point is that what's fun about tv and movies (to me, anyway), is that it ISN'T reality. I live in the real world. I like to get away sometimes.

In English you learn that there are only 7 basic plots that can be used in any story. They are given new twists, that is all. Here they are just so you don't have to go looking for them.1 - [wo]man vs. nature2 - [wo]man vs. man3 - [wo]man vs. the environment4 - [wo]man vs. machines/technology5 - [wo]man vs. the supernatural6 - [wo]man vs. self7 - [wo]man vs. god/religion

I agree with bengela, too. I think that there is already too much reality in TV. I like the whole tension thing with the characters. I think that it builds up nicely, and it will eventually reach an ultimate high, and that is where something big will happen between the characters.

I get what you're saying. It would be nice to have some reality without having bull**** reality like the crap you see on VH1 that's not reality that's stupidity. But it's nice to get to escape reality for awhile in the shows we love, sometimes it's nice to see the (what seemed like) tragic relationship find it's way in the end, the guy gets the girl and they kiss in the rain kind of stuff you know.

the above shows mentioned will meet your requirements, also true blood, dollhouse, dead like me, and big bang theory have more interesting plot lines then most, But definitely check out how I met your mother which is by far the greatest show airing at the moment.

Definitely agree with everyone that said to watch how i met your mother. It has bromances and they all get along the women and it has the excitement with some very random twists at time.

ok i agree with bengela reality is crap most times like, the hills i thought that it waz 4 real i was shocked when i found out they have a script but some shows for example grey's anatomy i think that its one of the best shows on tv , it mimics real life, its not predictable every episode ur holding on to ur seat wondering wats gonna happen next u just keep watchin episodes just like livin day to day, the patients, the situations u can actually see real people facing all of those things... the fact writers can make this stuff seem so realistic is just amazing

Totally agree with bengela i think your taking these and trying to make them something there not - reality. The whole point of these shows is to get away from reality and what we experience everyday and for people to experience something we would probally never get to.
