While I was dissapointed to learn a few months ago, that J.D (Zach Braff) would be returning to Scrubs Season 9 this year after such a perfect ending to Season 8, it was reassuring to see him back in the role of everybody's favourite TV doctor.
As the new season opens, we learn that J.D did in fact get the happy ending he desired at the end of last season, as he is now happily married to Elliot (Sarah Chalke) with a baby on the way.
It was good to see guy love back in town too as J.D and Turk were reunited in the workplace for the first time in a year. Other familiar faces included Dr. Cox, the Todd, Dr. Kelso and last year's intern, Jo.
This season has a new set and our favourite doctors are now teachers in Med School. Of course, a new set and new season also brings new characters - the main of which are Lucy (Kerry Bishé), Drew (Michael Mosley) and Cole (Dave Franco)
Scrubs creators are careful to wean us off J.D slowly as the first episode of the season is divided almost equally in narration between our beloved J.D and new main character Lucy.
The first episode provides a newfound glimmer of hope for the new season of Scrubs with laughs a plenty from characters old and new.
It was great to see Jo having so much air time in this episode and hopefully the sarcastic doctor, remniscent of a female Dr Cox won't be disappearing from our screens anytime soon.
While Scrubs devotees will undoubtedly be saddened at the loss of our beloved Sacred Heart as well as cast favourites, the Janitor and Carla to name but a few, I have no doubt that they will join me in the excitement of looking forward to a fresh new Scrubs.
