'Today': Ann Curry confirms departure, will stay with NBC as a producer and correspondent


Rumors about Ann Curry's impending departure from "Today" have been swirling for over a week, but now Curry has confirmed to USA Today in an emotional interview that she is leaving the show, a year after she started and much sooner than she ever planned."In journalism school, you never take a class on what to do when you're the focus of the story," says Curry. "[It's] going to be a bit of a tough day. I'm going to have to tell our viewers ... I don't want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them."Curry's new contract with NBC will have her leading a seven-person group that will cover news stories around the world. She'll produce pieces for "NBC Nightly News," "Dateline," "Rock Center" and "Today" and she'll occasionally fill in as anchor on "Nightly News."Curry certainly isn't pleased to leave her current job at "Today," however, and does not feel...
