Olympics 2012: US Jenn Suhr Wins Gold in Women's Pole Vaulting, Clears 15 Feet 7 Inches

Jenn Suhr is the all-time leading scorer for basketball at Rochester High School, with 1,819 points. But wait: she didn't compete in basketball in London. A multi-sport talent, Suhr is more prominently known as the owner of 11 national championships in pole vaulting. And now she can add an Olympic gold to her resume that already included a silver in Beijing. It was a hard-fought win, too. She had to beat out Yelena Isinbayeva, the defending Olympic champion and world record holder in the event. Suhr was aware of the uphill battle competing against Isinbayeva, saying, "When Yelena is in the field, you know the bar is risen, literally and figuratively."
