There was building anticipation leading into the women's 200 meter run. Packed with three all-star Americans and two powerful Jamaicans, it was sure to go out fast. Allyson Felix was the heavy favorite in the event, holding every title except Olympic gold across 200m (in addition to silvers in both Beijing and Athens). Strong challengers in the race included teammates Sanya Richards-Ross (who won gold in the 400m two days ago) and Carmelita Jeter and Jamaican teammates Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Veronica Campbell-Brown, who beat Felix in the last two Olympics. Campbell-Brown was aiming for a three-peat in the event.
