Last week, The X Factor premiered to ratings that left a little to be desired in the eyes of the network, much to the glee of those over at The Voice, whose surprise third night most certainly affected The Factor’s Wednesday premiere. This week, The X Factor gets Wednesday all to its own, however, kicking off the third night of auditions as the judges head to Kansas City and Greensboro to find the next big thing.
This season, The X Factor has welcomed new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to its panel, which has led to a lot of anticipation and criticism. Naysayers suggested Demi did not have enough experience to be able to offer sound advice and that Britney was a possible loose cannon. Both have proved their places on The X Factor after last week, however, earning mostly positive reviews with Britney’s blunt responses and comical facial expressions and Demi’s quick banter and tender heart.
This week The X Factor continues on its search for ‘The One,’ traveling from city to city crushing dreams and finding future stars. Although it may have not gotten the ratings it wanted last week, with luck this week will see an increase without the oversaturation of talent shows. Last week, in addition to The X Factor and The Voice, America’s Got Talent held its finale as well, leaving many viewers burned out on reality shows of that nature.
In my opinion, The X Factor has improved immensely this season, with a judges panel and atmosphere that takes me back ten years ago or so when American Idol was still fun. Now if they can just find their Ryan Seacrest to host the show, they’ll be on their way.
The X Factor airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on Fox.
