30 Rock Season 7 Review “Governor Dunston”

When a lot of comedies reach their seventh season, they will routinely rely on established tropes and basic character plays that they know are big hits with their audience. If shows are fortunate enough to reach this advanced age, episodes and even entire seasons can feel a lot like Liz Lemon’s preferred missionary sex. Yeah, it still feels okay, but nobody seems to be having that much fun anymore.

That’s what makes this recent run of 30 Rock so impressive: Instead of just firing off zingers for 13 episodes and riding comfortably off into the sunset, 30 Rock has decided to remain as sharp as ever.
