Nashville Season 1 Review “I Can’t Help It (If I’m Still in Love with You)”

I’m always glad when my first impressions aren’t wrong, so the fact that I enjoyed the second episode ofNashville, “I Can’t Help It (If I’m Still in Love with You)” would seem to prove that the pilot wasn’t just a fluke. I did notice one thing, though. Juliette seemed to have been toned down a bit. I mean, she was still a bitch who had no problem using her body to get what she wanted, but she seemed a little softer around the edges.

I’m not sure the writers have totally decided whether Juliette is a out-right villain or just a kid desperately trying to be an adult. It’s obvious that only her teenage fans and the record label executives like her music; everyone else thinks that she’s a joke. Even Deacon would rather sing a duet with Rayna like the old days, athough he has no problem writing songs and skinny-dipping with Juliette. I think we’re supposed to feel sorry for her that no one will take her seriously, I really don’t. Read More...
