NEW GIRL: "MODELS" REVIEW

For Cece's birthday, Jess was convinced that instead of staying in to watch Clueless on VHS ("As if!"), she would go out to a club with Cece and her model friends. Naturally, this was a recipe for disaster for Jess, who is usually saved "best for last" in terms of VIP access. However, this merely served as a platform for the real problem, which turned out to be Jess's unspoken jealousy of Cece. It's something we've all probably thought about at one time or another, but this week we finally learned where and when Cece's path as a model began.

There were some great moments for the two girls this week. Heinous Ford Fusion sponsorship aside, Jess's brief modeling career was definitely a highlight of the episode. (The physical comedy of women in high heels never ceases to amuse.) It was also a nice touch having Hall & Oates' "You Make My Dreams" play in the background -- a fun little reference to Zooey Deschanel's role in (500) Days of Summer. But this scene was really the perfect way to show that Cece's profession -- while seemingly shallow -- does require a fair amount of skill.
