Glee Season 4 Review “The Role Your Were Born to Play”

After almost a month away from McKinley, Glee is finally back in action. Following the emotional wringer that was the previous episode, ‘The Break-Up’, was never going to be easy but this episode, ‘The Role You Were Born to Play’, does an admirable job at keeping things respectably light. It’s audition time! And the Grease songs are out in force.

We don’t visit New York at all this week, with the focus resolutely on Finn and his fresh emotional turmoil. Meeting him as he works in Hummel Tires and Lube, Artie attempts to make his life a little more bearable by inviting him to co-direct the musical. Obviously, he jumps at the chance to go back to the safe walls of McKinley and, by the end of the episode he’s been invited back full time. We all knew that the adults would be less of a focus this year, but I didn’t think they’d go as far as to ship Will off to Washington.
