I do understand the situation of the writers, in some situations, some things just have to be explained to the audience. But by using Peter for that, they sacrifice his inteligence.
I mean, this guy is supposed to have an IQ of 190, there´s no way, he doesn´t understand, that language and script are based on repetition. He learned Farsi, which actually is written in a different script, also he must have never even heard about the decoding of the scripts of old civilisations. In my opinion this is not possible. Plus: It´s not even a thing you have to know, it´s totally logical that you can´t decipher a language, if there are no repetitions.
It was the same with the caesar cypher, oh come on guys, this is the most known cypher in the world, I heard about it, my little brother heard about it, I can´t see, how he couldn´t know.
The only way I could explain myself this lack of knowledge is him being unbelievablie lazy and in some moments he doesn´t even start to think and asks right away.
It´s a stupid explaination though and I just can´t stand it, when I´m watching a show and I here somebody say something and I think, oh well, this was just for the audience now.
It makes me slip out of the story and I think one should find other ways of explaining things, instead of thoughtlessly using Peter, who is supposed to be way more intelligent than all of us.
