I thought that both Eternal Sunshine and Children of Men were both SO overrated...especially Children of Men. I feel like there are many other Sci-Fi movies that much deserve a slot in this list over them (anybody for Contact? I loved that movie).@thebettertwin - I'm ok with the inclusion of Lost because I think that the definition of SciFi has loosened up in recent times. I also don't think it's a snoozefest. Character development...!I do however think it's a little premature to include Heroes on a top 25 list, especially since last season sucked.I think in general it was a mistake to mix TV and movies...too much to choose from. I do however like putting The Matrix at #1 - that movie was truly groundbreaking on so many levels!

Heroes, Total Recall, Lost = NO WAY. Heroes can't hold its own and Lost has gotten ridiculous.
Firefly, Terminator, Matrix, Eternal Sunshine, Blade Runner, Doctor Who = GOOD.
But where was Gattaca? hmmm

The last half hour of the Matrix is among the best all-time film sequences. I thought that again when I watched it last week and I still looked forward to that last half-hour.Yes, Gattaca should have been on the list - way better than Children of Men. No room for Silent Running either?Sorry - not V though.

in general the movies they selected for this list were so so..Children of men and Eternal sunshine, although they were both excellent films they should not be on this list. Stargate should definitely be on this list, either the film or the show or both. You don't reach the 'longest running sci fi series' status and not make the list when you're listing the top sci fi show/movies. Heroes also should not be here...it's not that great (I only still watch it because some part of me believes it'll recover itself somehow). Movies that were on the list and are great are Blade Runner, Matrix (although I'm not sure it's #1 material), Aliens, and Terminator. I was surprised to see Serenity/Firefly on the list too, and as a sci fi fanatic I was also secretly hoping to see Farscape here...but it's always overlooked so no big surprise there. Overall, I don't think this list was compiled by someone who really knows the genre. The films and shows were too much of a mix of the great and the wtf to have been organized by someone who really knows their sci fi movies and shows.

i love you guys, but Stargate is not the longest running Sci-fi Series on television. That would be Doctor Who.
I loved the list, and generally loved most of the pics. I recommend the follow up list of films/series that didn't make on the list. I think V should've gotten a little more up there on the list. There was a devoid time in the early 80's between Battlestar Galactica and ST:TNG that was hard for young fanboys like me, and V definitley filled the spot. I did miss farscape and Stargate on there as well.
Fun to look at!

Children of Men??? WTH? I wouldn't have even said it was Sci-Fi, but futuristic thriller (lame, futuristic thriller).
As above, Stargate SG-1 (the longest running //American// Sci-Fi) and Farscape (great Aussie Sci-Fi) should definitely have made the list. Total Recall was great in its time, and Matrix was very, very good in any time.
EW needs to make their website less bloated. I found it painful trying to get all 25 pages to load. :P

The list was pretty sloppy maybe 50% of the list was ok but how did babylon 5 not be mentioned? Or movies like dark city or equallibrium?
