As we mentioned in our midseason preview, NBC’s new primetime soap, Deception, must have been pitched as "Veronica Mars meets The Killing meets Dark Blue meets Revenge-ish meets..." you get it.

Indeed, it’s fairly clear that the series is the network’s answer to ABC's Revenge with it's slick, poor-little-rich-folks-and-the-people-they-screw-over-and-kill soapy appeal.

The basic premise is that unfathomably wealthy heiress to the Bowers pharmaceutical empire, and "notorious party girl", Vivian Bowers is found dead of an apparent overdose. FBI agent Will Moreno (Avatar's Laz Alonso) isn’t buying it, however, so he calls on his former girlfriend/Vivian’s childhood best friend, Detective Joanna Locasto (Brick and Saw V's Meagan Good) to go undercover in order to discover the secrets the Bowers family would kill to keep.
