Broadchurch Series 1 Episode 2 (ITV) Review

Last week’s premiere of ITV’s newest crime-drama Broadchurch was a huge hit, and now we’re back for a second go of things, in which the series can really prove its worth. And it does, since this follow-up episode (2 of 8) is as tight and as grim as the first, with a slow and steady pace that helps rather than hinders the intrigue and tension of the central mystery. DI Hardy (David Tennant) and DS Miller (Olivia Colman) have established that Danny was murdered, and must now resist pointing their fingers at the various shady characters in town. This is hard for the audience, too, though not as forbidden, since the series seems eager to pitch absolutely everyone as a guilty party to those tragic events. Then again, the people implicated in the first six episodes can probably be permanently removed from the suspects list by us back home, but we’ll get to that later. READ MORE...
