'Vikings' renewed for Season 2 on History

History has renewed "Vikings," the cable channel's first scripted series, for a 10-episode second season.The historical action drama is currently in the midst of its initial run of 9 episodes and is averaging a strong 5 million total viewers, including 2.2 million adults 25-54 and 1.9 million adults 18-49.Those numbers, however, have likely been inflated by the channel's smash hit miniseries "The Bible" which finished its run this past Sunday. This week will be the first test of "Vikings" drawing power without "The Bible" as a lead-in, but the renewal demonstrates History's commitment to the series even if the ratings slip for the final four airings."'Vikings' is a win win for us," History executive Dirk Hoogstra said in a statement.
