Monsters Vs. Aliens Movie Review - Featured

Monsters Vs. Aliens, as great as it is, feels like a step backwards for DreamWorks Animation. With Kung Fu Panda the studio made a film that could contend with some of Pixar's work, which is why it's kind of painful that their latest effort couldn't keep pace. It's not a bad film by any stretch, in fact, for the most part it's very enjoyable. At the end of the day, that's really all it needs to be.

I completely agree with this write up. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but DreamWorks has made far better movies in terms of their storytelling. This one, to me, felt more like a children's movie than most of their more recent films.3D IMAX made it worth it though and if I was 5, I would be buying an Insectosaurus stuffed animal as we speak. Also for San Franciscans (as I am) there was an extra treat; loved the chase scenes running through the city and clear representations of things as specific as Muni bus stop signs and the yellow F line car they were driving around in.
