'Celebrity Apprentice' on hold while NBC 'restocks the pool'

NBC has yet to make a decision on whether "The Celebrity Apprentice" will be on the air in 2013-14. According to the network, that has more to do with the mechanics of producing the show than anything involving star Donald Trump."In the celebrity iteration of 'The Apprentice,' we obviously need to know we can cast the show," NBC's head of alternative programming, Paul Telegdy, said Saturday (July 27) at the TCA summer press tour. "That's the bit of the process we're in, which is the restocking of the celebrity pond. ... That's taking some time. So no imminent plans for an announcement."As for Trump and his frequent and controversial political pronouncements, Telegdy says that's not really a consideration for the show's future."He's in the business of creating his own headlines and we're in the business of creating ours," Telegdy says.
