'Broadchurch' gets Americanized as FOX 'event series' for 2014-15

FOX is planning to remake the British crime drama "Broadchurch" as part of its roster of "event series" (formerly known as miniseries). The series follows the investigation of a young boy's murder, and the secrets the investigation exposes, in a small seaside town. The British series, which was a hit in the U.K. earlier this year, comes to BBC America starting Aug. 7."'Broadchurch' is the kind of storytelling that grabs your attention and keeps you riveted with every minute -- which is exactly what we look for in an event series," FOX Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly says. "We love the layered characters, we've seen how well-received it's been in the U.K., and we're lucky to be able to bring a new version of this mystery to the U.S. audience."Chris Chibnall, who created "Broadchurch," will executive produce the FOX version.
