Once Upon a Time Season 3: The Trouble With True Love

True love is boring.

As a storytelling device, it’s a cloying notion that only ever leads to ship wars (that’s relationship wars in case you don’t speak fandom) and nothing interesting happening ever. The very word soulmate makes me shudder. The idea that a character is destined for one set relationship is limiting and Once Upon a Time has entwined the idea so deeply into its DNA that it can’t break the cycle when compelling storylines present themselves.
