Person of Interest Season 3 Review “Razgovor”

Last night’s episode of Person of Interest may fall into my top five for the show. While largely focused on Shaw and her personal struggles, it also brought together team machine in a new way and introduced us to a no-holds-barred Carter.

We learned a lot more about what makes Shaw tick. In scenes of her backstory, we see that she lost her parents at a young age and processed her grief in a unique way. Instead of breaking down, she locked everything away. She thinks she has become unfeeling, but realizes after spending time with Genrika Zhirova, the 10-year old person of interest, that she may not be dead inside. Shaw was relentless in trying to save the young girl from her kidnappers. Her actions revealed to Finch that she has a more caring side that he has not seen. There has been a disconnect between Finch and Shaw, so this may lead them to a better understanding of one another. The best scene came at the end when Shaw deposited the girl at her new school. Before letting Geni walk away, Shaw pulled her in for a tight hug. I hope that this episode converted all the previous Shaw-haters to at least Shaw-likers.
