Sleepy Hollow Season 1 Review “The Midnight Ride”

Listen, my children, and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere. So begins Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s famous poem chronicling the events the night Paul Revere and others warned the Americans that the British were coming. It was one of my favorites when I was a kid, and I found myself quoting it while watching the opening sequence of this week’s Sleepy Hollow. This show is seriously causing me to nerd out on a weekly basis.

The Horseman came back and he was determined to retrieve his head. In an effort to draw Ichabod out, he slaughtered the local chapter of the Free Masons and hung their empty, silver-lined heads from a parking garage railing. Eww. Ichabod figured out that the Horseman wasn’t just after his head. He was after a manuscript that John Adams gave to Paul Revere the night of his famous ride. Ichabod surmised that the manuscript must contain information on how to defeat the Horseman, so he and Abbie tracked down the manuscript. It was coded, but after some trial and error (and unintentional internet porn) Ichabod deciphered the code. He discovered that the Horseman could not be killed, but he could be trapped. Ichabod, with some help from Abbie and Captain Irving, captured the Horseman.
