The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Review “Dead Man on Campus”

On the latest episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” we had, somewhat inevitably a bit of a readjustment, in “Dead Man on Campus.” After all, several characters died on the last episode, and one was, for lack of a better term, reborn, so you’ve got to set-up the next big bad to contend with. Actually, to be fair, they already kind of had done that, with the introduction of Dr. Maxfield and the whole Augustine conceit, but the time had clearly come to kick that storyline into high gear.

In this episode, we discovered the secret society’s nefarious plan: to create a line of vampires that were primarily driven to feed on their own kind. The current test subject was, of course, Jesse, who was injected with a special Augustine-approved blood mix and went berserk, nearly killing Dr. Maxfield in the process. Would that he had, given the ending of the episode! Ditto Damon, who definitely is going to be regretting that decision, even though, let’s face it, it was really Elena that stopped him from doing the deed.
