The Blacklist Season 1 Review “Anslo Garrick”

Two-parters in the television world are curious things. The first leg of the series has to ratchet up the drama to considerable heights to make the investment in the second episode worth it. However, the episodic nature of these television programs allows the viewer to watch with the comfort of knowing that no one of consequence is in any real danger. As a result, things around the edges have to be cranked up a few notches to let us know we’re not watching a “regular” episode of television. The tension of the episode has to be unbearable even if you know the end result. It’s not a question of what’s going to happen, but a question of how tense you can make things along the way.
