The Originals Season 1 Review “The River in Reverse”

In the latest episode of “The Originals,” we got a look at how Klaus’ past reflected his future, in “The River in Reverse.” As Elijah suffered the repercussions of Klaus’ bite in the previous episode, we saw in flashback form that it wasn’t the first time Klaus had made his life a living hell. It seems that, once upon a time, Elijah was in love with a witch by the name of Celeste.

Unfortunately for him, in an effort to throw suspicion away from himself for all the death he’d been causing in New Orleans back in the day, as well as to throw his father off of the scent of the Originals in the area, Klaus threw suspicion instead onto the witches, leading to a literal witch hunt. Among the causalities was none other than Celeste, which Elijah blamed himself for, having pressured Klaus to do something to throw off their father’s relentless pursuit- although, it certainly wasn’t his fault that Klaus was such a bloodthirsty ass.
