The Walking Dead took a bold risk in Season 4 when showrunner Scott Gimple and the rest of the creative team decided to set aside two of the first half of the season’s eight episodes and make them into complete standalone episodes for The Governor (David Morrissey). Various members of TWD’s cast and crew have made it clear that as a showrunner, Scott favors a character-driven style, and Episodes 6 and 7 certainly exemplified that.
