‘Despicable Me 2’ Set a Record for First-Week Sales on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital

“Despicable Me 2” grossed $80 million during its first week on-sale via DVD, Blu-Ray and digital copies — more money than any other film over the last three years. Fans of the film bought 4.5 million units (including both physical and digital copies), the most of any animated film during its first week since the first “Despicable Me” in 2010.

The tale of reformed criminal mastermind Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), his three daughters and his vast army of minion is the best-performing animated movie on Blu-Ray in history, and also posted the biggest first week of digital sales in history.
