TV ratings: 'Community' premiere up, 'Big Bang Theory' wins Thursday

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014Most networks were back with new episodes Thursday night, which means "The Big Bang Theory" was back with its usual big numbers. The CBS comedy pulled in nearly 19 million viewers to be the top show of the night. Over on NBC, the Season 5 premiere of "Community" was up over 300,000 viewers from its finale last year (though down from its Season 4 premiere), while on ABC, the Season 2 premiere of "The Taste" averaged 4.7 million viewers, which is up nearly 1.5 million from its Season 1 finale. CBS' slate of new episodes propelled it to an overall ratings win, earning an average of 10.9 million viewers and a 6.4 rating/10 share in households.
