The mid-season premiere of Hart of Dixie held its fair share of surprises, but the biggest shock of all was how happy and loved up most of the characters were by the end of the episode. We have Zoe and Joel, Lavon and Anna Beth, Wade and Vivian, Brick and Shelby and George and Linley so, as law for these shows usually dictates, it can only be a matter of time before everything blows up in their faces. Will it be Joel who skips town when Zoe realises that Wade can make true on his promises to change? Or maybe Linley will wise up to the fact that her boyfriend isn’t as over his ex as he claims?
If we’re honest, the thing we were all waiting for was the fallout from Wade and Zoe’s kiss in the midseason finale, but the fireworks some of us were expecting weren’t anywhere to be seen. Instead, we got everyone being very grown up and mature, with Zoe even overcoming her not-so-secret jealous streak and recommending Wade to Vivian when she starts having doubts. Can Wade really change his ways? His willingness to call her the morning after their date (with some prompting from new bestie Joel) certainly indicates that he’ll at least try to better himself for the sake of a real relationship.
