FOX's original hit singing competition American Idol has been around for quite some time, and the network is determined to prevent the show from getting stale, thanks in part to some lively new changes. Find out what to expect this season! American Idol is back, and a brand-new batch of hopefuls isn't the only change we'll see this time around. According to Idol's Executive Producer, the reality singing competition show has made some slight alterations, including condensed middle rounds with more rapid eliminations and an expanded song list that included more contemporary hits. But the biggest change is with Idol's top Dawg himself. Randy Jackson officially moves into a mentoring role this season, helping the idol hopefuls with song selection, polishing their image, and coping with any stress.
