Brooklyn Nine-Nine returned after a big night at the Golden Globes with another strong episode, and one that felt as though it was expanding the scope of the series' formula. It was interesting, because in some ways Peralta and Holt had a bit of role reversal. Not directly, of course. In fact, it was to the show's credit that the character shifts weren't couched in an obvious switcheroo. This felt more like an evolution than a momentary shake-up before things returned to normal. More to the point, Holt's sudden burst of verbal diarrhea, and Peralta's schoolboy-turned-man...on woman crush created some fertile comedic ground. There were moments of vulnerability and hilarity for both characters, and it was good to see them each out of their element a bit, with Peralta rising to the occasion and Holt unable to recover.
