'The Vampire Diaries' 100th episode: Matt Davis thanks the fans for the Alaric love

Many characters have come and gone during the past 99 episodes of "The Vampire Diaries," but the one that left the biggest hole in the series when he died was Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis).The history teacher/vampire hunter-turned-parental figure for the Gilbert siblings/Damon's drinking buddy-turned-Original vampire/vampire hunter-turned-ghost remains one of the biggest fan favorite characters of The CW's supernatural drama.When he died (the first time) in a graveyard surrounded by his loved ones, Alaric's send off was emotional, powerful and paid tribute to how much everyone had grown to care for him (and coupled with The Fray's "Be Still?" Yeah, we didn't stand a chance).
