Just came across this review (I know it's old):
The four filthy-rich main characters in the new drama "Gossip Girl" will pull you into a tumultuous world where teens have sex, swig dirty martinis and smoke pot during leisurely walks through Central Park.
They also wear Chanel to class and Cavalli to the clubs.
But if it all sounds like the creation of overactive imagination, consider this: Paris Hilton.
The world of "Gossip Girl," based on the hugely popular young adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, is fashioned after the exclusive cluster of real-life upper East Side socialites from which Hilton emerged when she was still a few years shy of the legal drinking age.
"Gossip Girl," airing tonight at 9 on the CW, revolves around an anonymous blog that chronicles the personal lives of popular prep schoolers, including target-du-jour Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively).
