Community Season 5 “Analysis of Cork-Based Networking” Review

If you told me that an episode Community would have guest-star appearances including Katie LeClerc (Switched At Birth), Nathan Fillion (Castle, Firefly), Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), Brie Larson (The United States of Tara), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, True Blood) and Kumail Nanjiani (Portlandia, Franklin & Bash), I would believe that I was in store for one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. And although last night’s “Analysis of Cork-Based Networking” was not bad, it was the weakest outing in an otherwise strong season.

Notably, the episode did not suffer from the absence of Donald Glover’s Troy, who is now sailing the world on the Childish Tycoon with Levar Burton. Coincidentally, both Community and Parks and Recboth featured storylines in which a pair of characters navigated their way through a winding trail of favors in order to achieve a goal – in this case it was a cork board. I preferred the trope more on Parks and Rec because it was secondary to the main storyline, which was the departure of Ann and Chris from Pawnee. That aside, the pairing of Annie with Buzz was fun.
