TV ratings: 'American Idol' dips a little but easily wins Wednesday

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014"American Idol" was off slightly from its ratings a week ago on Wednesday, but per usual, it was the night's top-rated show by a wide margin. The show's adults 18-49 rating was more than double that of its closest competitor.A couple of the night's other big shows, "Modern Family" and "Criminal Minds," were in repeats, which resulted in a bit of a boost for NBC's "Law & Order: SVU," which was up for the second straight week. So was its lead-out, "Chicago PD." ABC's "Nashville" also ticked up, and The CW saw improvements from "Arrow" and "The Tomorrow People."FOX delivered 12.4 million viewers and a 7.3 rating/11 share in households in primetime, finishing well ahead of second-place CBS (7.5 million, 4.8/8).
