'New Girl' and 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' score strong ratings after the Super Bowl

A very lopsided score in Super Bowl XLVIII drove the game's ratings down some, and as a result numbers for the post-Super Bowl shows are off a bit too. Still, "New Girl" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" scored by far their biggest audiences ever Sunday night (Feb. 2)."New Girl" averaged 25.8 million viewers and an 11.1 rating among adults 18-49, and "Brooklyn" scored 14.8 million people and a 6.7 in the 18-49 demographic. Their combined 20.3 million viewers is the lowest for post-Super Bowl shows since 17.4 million people stuck around for "Alias" after the 2003 Super Bowl. Last year's post-game episode of "Elementary" on CBS, which started after 11 p.m. ET, drew 20.8 million people. By itself, though, "New Girl" -- which featured a guest-star turn by Prince -- topped "Elementary" by a pretty good margin and came pretty close to the "Glee" episode (26.8 million) FOX ran after the 2011 Super Bowl.
