Ben Wheatley‘s films, even at their grittiest, have always had a surreal quality, which usually pertains to the violence. That violence will likely be present in his latest, A Field in England, but the movie also looks like his strangest yet. I have no problem with that, and I certainly have no problem with Laurie Rose‘s eye-catching black and white cinematography. Today, we’re pleased to debut three new images from the film. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story, it takes place in 1648 where “Three soldiers are led by an alchemist into a mysterious field. They discover the horrors of war are nothing compared to those of the mind.” Like I said, it’s going to be a trip.
