TV ratings: Winter Olympics fall, 'American Idol' best of the rest Wednesday

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014NBC's Winter Olympics coverage recorded some of its lowest ratings of the 2014 games Wednesday night, falling sharply both from Tuesday's prime-time telecast and from the comparable night four years ago.Nonetheless, NBC led the night by a wide margin. "American Idol" dropped some for FOX but was the night's top non-Olympic show. ABC, CBS and The CW largely took the night off.NBC averaged 20.8 million viewers and a 12.1 rating/19 share in households in primetime. FOX (11.4 million, 6.7/10) finished second, comfortably ahead of CBS (5 million, 3.1/5). ABC (3.6 million, 2.4/4) came in fourth, and The CW (924,000, 0.6/1) trailed.In the 18-49 demographic, NBC's 5.6 rating led the way, beating out FOX's 3.4.
