dean and sam got the tattoo after sam was possessed by a deamon so i guess john hadn't one himself.

So because Sam and Dean each had the tattoo you assume that their father did as well? Wouldn't they have mentioned that little fact? Plus, like WhereAmI said... they got the tats after one of the boys got possessed so that it didnt happen again.. John had never been possessed before so it probably didn't cross his mind to get the tattoo..

i agree with both WhereAmI and tru_mamacita in everything they both said....but just a question from whoever wants to answer it.....did they actually say they were getting the tattoo done? or did it just happen

@Akadaka The tattoos just happened after Sams being possesed by megs demon, in the next episode 'jus in belo' the boys were handing out the protection amulets and when asked what they would do to prevent themeslves being possesed they flashed their tattoos but it had never been mentioned before and hasn't been since.
